Jinze - Home to Bridges

Jinze of Shanghai has been crowned as "Hometown of Bridges in Jiangnan". According to Records of Jinze compiled in the Qianlong Period of the Qing Dynasty, there were 42 rainbow bridges. However, only 28 ancient bridges could be traced according to related data and the recall of local elders. As they were out of repair for a long time, quite a few bridges have been severely damaged, among which there are bridges like Wan'an Bridge, Puji Bridge, Yingxiang Bridge, Tianhuangge Bridge, Ruyi Bridge, Bianshuihong Bridge etc; elegant in design and ingenious in structure, they have drawn the attention of bridge experts and scholars home and abroad.
